For babies under 1 year of age, dental care is crucial even before teeth appear. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to care for your baby's gums and emerging teeth:

Start Early: Begin cleaning your baby's mouth before teeth erupt. Gently wipe their gums with a clean, damp cloth or gauze after feedings.

Use a Soft Cloth or Gauze: Wrap a clean, moistened washcloth or gauze around your index finger. Gently wipe the baby's gums, including the tongue.

Introduce a Toothbrush: Once the first tooth appears, typically around 6 months, start using a small, soft-bristled toothbrush designed for infants.

Brush Twice a Day: Brush your baby's teeth twice a day, preferably in the morning and before bedtime.

Make it Fun: Turn tooth brushing into a positive and enjoyable experience. Sing a song, make funny faces, or use a colorful toothbrush to engage your child.

Limit Sugar Intake: Minimize sugary foods and drinks in your child's diet to reduce the risk of tooth decay.

First Dental Visit: Schedule the first dental visit around your child's first birthday or when the first tooth erupts. This early visit helps monitor oral development and provides guidance on oral care.

Remember, consistency is key in establishing good oral hygiene habits.
